Conservation Easement Question on Lockwood Boulevard Parcel
The mayor wanted to make sure residents knew the city didn't strip conservation protections from a 6.7-acre Lockwood Boulevard parcel — it turns out it was never conservation land. Council declined to spend about $35,000 on studies and left the property as is.
Collapsed fence in protected wetlands at Kingsbridge East
About 175 feet of chain-link fence has collapsed into protected wetlands, with a 100-foot section lying there for two years. A resident filed a state environmental complaint, and the seminary's attorney says they'll remove or replace the fence however the city directs.
Residential solid waste service contract renewal
The Waste Pro contract expires September 30, 2027, so the city must rebid residential trash, recycling, yard waste and bulk pickup. Council leans toward keeping current service levels while possibly testing cheaper options like every-other-week recycling.
Conservation easement over Twin Rivers Golf Course
The council permanently restricted the golf course land to golf, conservation and stormwater uses — but removed all "passive recreation" language from the covenants, which narrows what the property can legally be used for. No limits on additional impervious surface made it in either.
Prescribed burns and management of state-funded park lands
The mayor flagged that some parks bought with state grants (like Riverwoods Park) may legally require management like prescribed burns. Council wants an update on which lands are affected — Britton is skeptical about burning 34 acres near houses.
