Claude Pepper Park: pool out, soccer fields in, splash pad saved
The council voted 3-2 to let staff renegotiate the Redwood Claude Pepper Park deal, possibly trading the promised pool for a payment toward pool repairs elsewhere — drawing objections about the developer's no-public-money pledge.
Enchanted Forest equestrian stables future
The city-run stables have been falling apart for years with an expired lease. The council wants an RFP for a new operator but split over whether it should stay affordable for families or go upscale.
Cagni Park North Phase I cost overrun
The park project was bid about $500K over its $17.5 million funding before design costs, and now needs another $1 million in contingency. HVAC delays push the aquatics building work to July; final completion is targeted for September 9, 2026.
Redwood pool swap for Sunkiss Grove Community Center
Councilman Charles wants Redwood to drop the Pepper Park pool and put roughly $3-5 million toward rebuilding the run-down Sunkiss Grove center that houses the food pantry and senior programs. It's early — the developer must come back, the community must be consulted, and a site plan change would restart the approval process.
