Recreation and Open Space Chapter update
Sarasota is updating the parks and open space chapter of its comprehensive plan, which will shape how the city provides recreation facilities and protects open space through 2055. The open house gives residents a preview of the draft and a chance to weigh in early.
Ongoing Public Art Projects Citywide
One of the city's most visible downtown buildings drew 153 applications for a single $100,000 commission. The committee punted selection to a December 16 special meeting after agreeing the volume of material warranted more review time.
Parks District Creation
Residents and the PREP board pushed for a dedicated parks district with its own funding, and for a consistent zoning category protecting all 60+ city parks. The commission agreed to take it up quickly this budget season.
