Emergency road resurfacing on 132nd Street
The council ratified an emergency $112,000 fix to mill and resurface 132nd Street between North Miami Avenue and 2nd Avenue.
NoMi Express Trolley Service RFP
The $750,000 Freebee renewal was tabled. The mayor said residents who don't speak English aren't getting served and criticized an orchestrated vendor-driven email campaign; councilmembers want better wait times, more completed rides, and one-on-one meetings before the next vote.
NE 124th Street signalized pedestrian crosswalk
FDOT will build a full signalized crosswalk on NE 124th Street just east of 15th Avenue — great for bus stop access, but it removes five parking spots on the north side of the road. Construction runs about 180 days, fully state-funded, with night work likely.
131st Street pedestrian bridge replacement
The $3.3 million replacement of the pedestrian bridge over the canal starts this summer — notice to proceed May 18, demolition and installation to follow, done by May 2027. Residents near the project (including one the mayor named) will get ongoing outreach.
