Stock Island Specific Overlay District
Description
Staff got the go-ahead to draft an overlay district tailored to Stock Island that would ease redevelopment rules for small businesses — parking, setbacks, floor area — while adding screening requirements and possibly banning new outdoor vehicle and vessel storage. It will come back through community meetings, planning commission and two board votes before adoption.
Impact summary
If adopted, small business owners on Stock Island could finally remodel or rebuild without losing space to one-size-fits-all rules, and the island's look and parking situation could improve.
