Eastside Lauderhill neighborhood park (NW 21st Street & 46th Avenue)
Parks presented its priorities and youth sports budgets, with only 25-30% of program participants being Lauderhill residents. Vice Mayor Campbell pressed for more parking at Sports Park, potentially negotiating with the South Florida Water Management District and the school board for adjacent land. Geobond projects are underway, including Jackie Gleason basketball courts and Bradley Park lighting.
Citywide cleanup and anti-littering efforts
Over 400 volunteers turned out for the citywide cleanup, and a new Neighborhood Enrichment Team will inspect city properties first, then commercial, then residential — with notices before enforcement.
Cultural Events and New State Restrictions on DEI Spending
The mayor flagged that starting January 2027, state law will restrict city spending on cultural/diversity-themed events like Jamaica Independence and aspects of MLK and Juneteenth celebrations. The city attorney will issue written guidance before then on what's permitted, warning penalties include resident lawsuits and removal of elected officials.
West Ken Lark track construction delays
Vice Mayor Campbell publicly pressed staff on the long-delayed track reconstruction at West Ken Lark Park. The city manager said the surface is curing and should be done in 30-45 days, with new hurdles arriving next week.
Public art program board vacancies
The public art board has only 3 of 7 seats filled, so it can't reach quorum or take action — the commission needs to appoint members. Residents also complained the former fountain at Wally Elfers Park looks bad and will be looked at for a waterfall restoration.
Park Irrigation and Athletic Field Conditions
TruGreen found bad irrigation and missed herbicide treatments at every park. Staff patched systems up in the last 60 days, but real fixes — about $900K at Veterans Park and $1.5M at Sports Park — ride on the 2026 GO bond. Campbell says don't waste money on band-aids.
