Ruby Plaza renaming

A lifelong Kissimmee resident asked the Commission to vote no, arguing the Ruby name traces to Ruby Avenue from the 1880s and should be preserved; he suggested naming the bandshell for Bill Hansen instead, and raised concerns a sign was installed before the hearing.

The state representative and former mayor urged approval, calling Bill Hansen a pillar of the community who put Lakefront Park on the map.

Bill Hansen's daughter spoke on behalf of the family, expressing gratitude and support for renaming the plaza in her father's honor.
