3 issues with critical priority
Opposition to Property Tax Reform Amendment 3
With Amendment 3 passing, Council wants to shield residents from a rushed special legislative session, backing the League of Cities' push for a budget and tax reform commission instead. Staff has already paused planned CIP projects pending Council direction.
Sperry Property Land Use and Shoreline Conservation
The biggest development fight in Jupiter right now: a 10.5-acre parcel at the Jupiter Inlet could become a hotel, condos, restaurant and 17-slip marina, with over half the site conserved. Residents packed chambers opposing it; the developer says he'll sell to the town if the project can't be approved on his terms. First readings passed 4-1; final decisions come at second reading.
Beach Activities and Sea Turtle Protection
Residents urged the council to enact stricter local ordinances banning fireworks and large gatherings on beaches during turtle nesting season.
