Freebee Service and Transit Concerns
A longtime resident worried the Freebee door-to-door ride service was being eliminated in favor of buses, which she said are unreliable and don't run weekends. Council members reassured her that Freebee isn't going anywhere, and a resident who helped bring the service in 2020 explained it's staying.
West 38/39/40th Street roadway and drainage improvements
A $4.1M project will fully rebuild three streets with new drainage, curbs, sidewalks and shoulder parking — but business owners said they were never invited into the design process. The mayor tabled it two weeks so they can meet with staff before the vote.
East 4th Avenue Vision Zero safety improvements
The city locked in a county agreement and a designer for safety upgrades along East 4th Avenue — part of the Vision Zero push to reduce crashes.
Roadway and Drainage Improvements — East 8th to East 10th Avenue
The council approved a $4.85 million contract (with contingency) for Acosta Tractors Inc to rebuild roads and drainage between East 5th Street and East 9th Street. Expect construction activity in that corridor.
