4 issues with low priority
Downtown sidewalk cafe fencing
Commissioners complained that businesses are fencing off parts of the newly rebuilt streetery and downtown sidewalks, undercutting the open pedestrian space the city paid for. Staff will return with ordinance options after consulting the Downtown Advisory Board.
New City Flag Design Process
After 50 years of a stopgap flag (the seal slapped on cloth), the committee voted to pursue a public design competition for a new flag by end of 2027. The historic train seal stays — members didn't want to pay to rebrand everything.
Tree canopy and green space conservation
A resident charged that only about 2% of the tree mitigation fund actually goes to trees and that invasive species are choking out canopy. Commissioner Eastman said the city has added oversight and is working with the tree advisory board on ordinance changes.
Downtown parking and pedicab fees
A resident urged scrapping the two-hour 'passport parking' limits downtown, saying they deter visitors from the new streatery. Commissioners also flagged wild pedicab fee variation ($15–$75) after games and asked staff to explore a city fee schedule if allowed by law.
