4 issues in roads
Citywide road resurfacing program
The city is spending $5.39 million this fiscal year repaving roads, starting with Grandview Avenue and lots around Jackie Robinson Ballpark. Commissioner Cantu keeps asking for a budget workshop to put more money into resurfacing, especially after the rollback reduced the program.
Clyde Morris corridor improvements
The state's Clyde Morris project — approved by the governor two years early — will add a pedestrian tunnel for Embry-Riddle students and new sidewalks the city has requested for years. FDOT will present the project to the commission in January.
North Beach Street Reconstruction and Infrastructure
All remaining Balu Road CRA revenue is being redirected to rebuild North Beach Street, a long-overdue project still 18–24 months from construction. A resident urged that underground pipes and electrical work be included now so the road doesn't need redoing later.
LPGA Corridor Development and Infrastructure Strain
Residents and commissioners voiced deep frustration over severe traffic congestion, worsening stormwater flooding, and the rapid pace of building along the LPGA West corridor, highlighting state limitations on local growth management.
