Spirit Airlines building acquisition

Dania Beach's mayor said the county buying Spirit's campus would cost the city $1.2 million a year in tax revenue forever, and asked commissioners to instead pursue a private aviation employer for the unique facility.

The Alliance's Bob Swindell said two strong corporate candidates and several others are competing for the building, and recommended the county not compete with private businesses for it — though he admitted he'd done no tax-revenue analysis.
